I first became involved in research during medical school, where I studied the molecular epidemiology of malaria and other tropical parasitic infections to inform nationwide control and elimination programs. My interest in malaria eradication led me to develop a passion for developing vaccines and Immunotherapeutics.

I expanded my knowledge in those two areas by completing two postdoctoral fellowships before starting my residency. During my residency at Cornell, I had the opportunity to do a research rotation in the lab of Dr. Sallie Permar, where I worked on projects that focused on understanding the immunopathogenesis of HIV.
