          Born in KwaMashu township, Ambassador Nomusa Dube-Ncube made history on 10 August 2022 when she was sworn-in as the first female Premier of KwaZulu-Natal since South Africa’s democratic dispensation in 1994.

          Premier Dube-Ncube is an activist of the African National Congress and her passion lies in honouring the contribution of women and youth towards nation-building and the country’s transformative agenda.
          In her early years, she worked for organisations such as the National Association of Democratic Lawyers, IDASA, Lawyers for Human Rights and National Education Council Committee.
          Prior to her deployment as Premier, she was the Member of the Executive Council responsible for the Finance Portfolio.

          She was previously MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs in KwaZulu-Natal. Premier Dube-Ncube also served as MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs for two terms between 2009 and 2
